This is my second blog post. I think I will start to blog about my JNCIE SP study efforts.
What has happened since blog post 1?
I achieved my JNCIE DC in January of 2025 and I achieved my JNCIE SEC in September of 2026. The last two years have been full of studying books, reading white docs, watching videos and labbing in Junipers virtual labs for these two exams.
I failed my first attempt at the JNCIE SEC in March of 2026 and I took three months off from the studies. I needed to reset myself. My mind was fried from the effort.
For the second attempt at the JNCIE SEC I started watching Youtube videos from movies like Rocky 1-4, Conan, etc and listening to the sound tracks of the movies. I did this for motivation. The stories, characters and music help push me to keep going. You can either quit or you can face the overcome the challenge.

No Easy Way Out is a great song. There is usually one way out of something and it is not easy. Passing a test like JNCIE or CCIE, you can’t make it easy. You have to do the work, you have to learn, you have focus, you have spend the time, you have put in the effort, you have to practice and you can’t give up.
Tonight I read the first chapter of the books-
MPLS In A SDN Era
QOS Enabled Networks
Interdomain Multicast Routing
I am going to go back to the classic paper books for part of my JNCIE SP studies. Reminds me of my CCIE RS days from 2010 to 2013. Reading books from the CCIE reading list. I think INE had a blog post of books to read…..I couldn’t find it with a google search but it is probably somewhere.
I worked in a SP network for years and I have a good amount of experience. I am asking myself should I take a break from JNCIE studies since I passed the JNCIE SEC recently from this post. I am still in the study mode and still have the drive. I am afraid if I take a break, it is hard to wind back up.
My plan is to use the Juniper All Access Pass I have access to, read books to refresh my baseline and bring back all this stored up networking information back from the depths of my long term memory. I may even start to do JNCIE labs before I go get the JNCIS and JNCIP. I would always get these certs and then take a few months off and then start labbing. I may start now and watch videos, read books/white docs and do labs since I have a good SP foundation.
I hope whomever reads is having a great Time to Live.
More to come.
Kyle
